Synopsis

Once the pride of the Soviet fleet, the aircraft carrier Kiev sets off on its final voyage - being towed to China. The collapse of the Soviet Union also robbed former crew members of their place in society. For them, the Kiev has long faded into a visual memento, a ghost ship that constantly sails through its protagonists' dreams.

ON THE SEVEN SEAS offers a differentiated picture of a sunken superpower, with all the contradictions and the lack of orientation that followed. "The flag is already badly frayed," an ex-crew-member says. "So too are our lives".
