Synopsis

Our image of Charlemagne is that of the first and most important emperor of the Middle Ages. He ruled an empire that included almost all of Europe and successfully spread Christianity. A younger generation of researchers has brought to light fascinating evidence that Charles back in a new light. In a thrilling detective search for clues, historians make their way to lift the veil of transfiguration, that enveloped Charles for centuries.
