A poetic story of the last voyage of the DONAU, an old rust bucket, and its lonely captain Franz along the river Danube. When a young man hauls a casket onboard, a dead woman`s last will and testament forces Franz to set course down the Danube from Vienna. With a small group of passengers, the ship proceeds two thousand kilometres downriver to the East, where they eventually find a new home on faraway shores.
