Venice: Achievments for Shirin Neshat and Jessica Hausner

This years Biennale ended with a great achievment for the Austrian presence:

Women Without Men by Shirin Neshat received the Silver Lion for Best Director.

Lourdes by Jessica Hausner received four awards: the FIPRESCI Award, the SIGNIS Award, La Navicella - Venezia Cinema Award and the Brian Award.

Viennale 2009

Viennas biggest International Film Festival takes place from 22 October to 4 November.

Amongst a multiplicity of outstanding and exiting feature films, documentaries and short films, again there are some projects screened which were funded by the Vienna Film Fund.

Calling for NCM 2009

16 - 17 November 2009

The Slovenian MEDIA Desk organizes a Neighbouring Coproduction Meeting (NCM) in Ljubljana. Kick-off for projects to submit -  deadline extended until September 16, 2009.

66th Venice International Film Festival 2009

This years Biennale (2 - 12 September) will take place with an enormous Austrian presence: Lourdes by Jessica Hausner and Women Without Men by Shirin Neshat are running the International Competition Venezia 66, both films were produced by coop99, just as Pepperminta by Pipilotti Rist, which will be screened at the Sektion Orizzonti.

 

Also shown: Sherry Hormann's Biopic Desert Flower produced by Dor Film, Totó by Peter Schreiner and Domaine von Patrick Chiha.
